Haitian and Kenyan Police Forces Participate in Operations in Different Areas of the Country

The Haitian National Police, together with Kenyan troops from the multinational mission, are conducting an operation on Tuesday in the capital’s Bel-Air neighborhood, under the control of gang leader Jimmy Cherisier, alias ‘Barbecue’, and in Solino, The target of the armed coalition ‘Vivre Ensemble’ (Living Together) attacks, which he wants to take over.

In the operation, involving more than 15 armored vehicles and aimed at dislodging the gang coalition ‘Vivre Ensemble’ led by ‘Barbecue’, at least three Haitian agents were slightly injured, reported the National Police of Haiti (PNH) on their Facebook page.
“The three injured SWAT elite police officers in Bel-Air are stable” and receiving the necessary care, said the PNH.
He added that several specialized police units, supported by a contingent of the Multinational Security Support Mission, are participating in this operation “with the aim of dismantling the gangs that have been occupying these areas for some time”.
The police asked the population to remain calm during the interventions and assured that they will be carried out in a “professional manner”.
According to the local press, some bandits were killed during the operation.
